Drug Uses
Clomid, an infertility drug that appears in other names like CC, Clomiphene citrate, Serophene or simply Clomid. Clomid (Serophene) is used for treatment of female infertility. Clomid stimulates ovulation (the release of an egg) when a woman's ovaries can produce a follicle but hormonal stimulation is deficient. Clomiphene is also sometimes used to treat male infertility, fibrocystic breasts, menstrual abnormalities, and persistent breast milk production.
How Taken
Clomid (Serophene) comes as a tablet to take by mouth with a full glass of water. Clomid is usually taken once a day for 5 days, beginning on or about day 5 of the cycle. Take clomid exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Do not take this medication if you are pregnant.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose of Clomid (Serophene) as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not take a double dose of Clomid to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
Clomiphene may cause side effects:
• headache;
• flushing (feeling of warmth);
• upset stomach;
• breast discomfort;
• vomiting;
• abnormal vaginal bleeding.
